Cardiff Beach Clean Up

On February 20th SEA sponsored the first in a series of local beach clean ups held at Cardiff State beach. SEA Executive Director Andrew Mencinsky organized and attended the clean up which produced approximately eight bags of trash and recycled materials which were removed from a 400-yard area of beach from the south side of the San Elijo Creek to Seaside Reef. Bottle caps were the most consistent trash item found at this beach. The pieces of debris at the Cardiff beach were smaller on average than beaches cleaned by SEA on the East Coast. Pictured are some of the more unique items found during the clean up.
