I broke my neck while body surfing in Ocean City, Md in August, 2009. As a result, I'm a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. I believe my injury was caused by dangerous beach replenishment practices, which caused a dangerous shore break.

It's my understanding that the Surfer's Environmental Alliance (SEA) is strongly fighting against the dangerous beach replenishment practices which caused shore breaks and resulting spinal cord injuries. I am very interested in working with the SEA to end these dangerous practices and stopping the numerous spinal cord injuries.

Please contact me by email or by my telephone, number 301-881-0193. I have a very strong desire to end these practices and safe others from my fate.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Patrick Durkin

"Therefore, Surfers’ Environmental Alliance (SEA) contends that it is irresponsible to place the narrow-focused and profit-seeking interests of the oil industry above the economic survival of untold numbers of coastal residents and workers who absolutely depend on healthy ocean systems, plentiful fisheries, clean ocean waters, and safe and attractive beaches."
This paragraph is music to my ears...I am so happy to know that other people are protesting against off-shore drilling. I'm from Holden Beach, and we have a politician there trying to make it possible for offshore drilling there. As a fellow surfer, I am completely against it. Offshore drilling is too big of a risk. So, thank you for this article.
